WKYC Makes a Difference

WKYC Makes a Difference

More than 20 WKYC-TV employees, family members, and friends spent Saturday morning at the Ronald McDonald House for Make a Difference Day. Make A Difference Day is one of the largest annual single-days of service nationwide. Since 1992, volunteers and communities have come together on Make A Difference Day with a single purpose: to improve the lives of others.

Volunteers decorated 50 bags and stuffed them with fun activities. These “boredom bags” will stock three Happy Wheels carts that distribute gifts and snacks to children staying at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Children’s, and Fairview Hospital.

They also made 120 bagged meals for families who use Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the hospitals. Each bag contained a healthy balanced meal of a sandwich, pasta salad, fruit, and a treat. These meals allow family members to stay close to their hospitalized children and give them energy to face stressful situations.

A lively band of bakers produced tray after tray of brownies and marshmallow treats for the Family Rooms and guests staying at the House. They went through four dozen eggs! A gallery of the day is posted on our Facebook page.

Thank you to WKYC and to all the groups who pull together every day to help our families. Want to make a difference? Grab your family, friends, coworkers, or your neighbors, and spend a few hours volunteering at our House.
